I focus on something pretty important, as well as my work for the day, and what the hell happened with K-Roll?

What you are guys doing?

Kinja'd!!!

I thought Car Culture had to do with appreciating things.

I most certainly don't forget when I first joined, and mentioned the SL600. I'm not going to dig that far back (because I'd like to believe we're all past that) but it was a bit rough. Now that I actually own the thing, it's an ever so slightly different story, but let's calm down a bit.

1) We've all regretted decisions before.

2) We've all fucked up pretty bad before.

3) When we had regrets or fucked up, we bitched about it for a long time.

Keeping these three things in mind, K-Roll is one of us. Yes, one of us . It's not his fault that he opted to get a practical car at the time he was able to. It's also not his fault that Ford decided to roll out the next mustang just a little bit after that. It's gear envy , it's wanting what would have been possible if things were different.

Now, he hasn't forgotten that he could have gotten something else. Were any of us really different? Come on, it's the one that got away. Let him get that out. The whole idea of sharing a common interest, and stepping out of our comfort zones, and meeting other new people is what makes Opposite Lock what it is. Does that mean it's wrong to joke around? No! Joke around to your hearts content! It's important to have a thick skin in life, and learn to let things roll off your back. I used to walk around car shows and never talk to anyone. Then I had something to bring. It was hard finding the correct people, but there is a correct group of people. As outstanding citizens of the United Pages of Kinja, we need to respect everyone, and know that they may be (and most likely are) different from ourselves.

Kinja'd!!!

If you're saying something, and it gets taken the wrong way, learn from that, and don't keep going back. When the crowd boos your joke in 5 different cities, it may be time to get a new one! So keep that in mind. Not everyone can deal and take things as well as you can, so treat them with that respect. Growing up, we hopefully all learned what it takes to be a respectable, fair and productive member of society. There was no line drawn around the keyboard saying that it's off limits and you don't need to apply your knowledge here. Remember that it is your civic duty here on Opposite Lock to appease Senna. He may just leave you with a gallon of 87 Octane for the holidays.

Kinja'd!!!

You most certainly have a dream car. How would you feel if you bought what was sitting on the lot, only to learn the dream car was going to arrive in 3 weeks, and absolutely no one would have been able to know that?

How would you feel if you weren't allowed to want something more?

Oppo is better than this. As Opponauts, you're all better than this.

Kinja'd!!!

Am I better because my car has more cylinders than yours? No. But maybe here, cylinder count is what makes someone better. So Oppo, prove me wrong, and shape up. If you've made it this far, I don't need to point fingers, name names or say another word. You know who you are.

Buyers remorse. It sucks, and I keep going in and out of it. Luckily I'm pretty neutral about it right now.

"Remember that it is your civic duty here on Opposite Lock to appease Senna. "

I can get behind this.

Great post. You couldn't be more right, and I couldn't of said it better myself. I think a bunch of people are just too on edge. It happens. Just relax, get away from normality and let it pass. We are a Family, Oppositelock. And nothing can change that. We are all equal, and aren't the same unless everyone is ok. We always need to help others out. We can't stand tall, unless we are sure everyone else already is.

I went a lil off on the kid, but I just wanted to give him some perspective. I have one that got away too...but I mean, it's life. It's not all their is to life though, which is what he has made it seem like.

Okay, but you see everyone takes and deals with things differently. I know K-Roll fairly well, and he has his own moments not unlike your own. He's young, he's learning. He's going to make mistakes. It's absolutely fine to have that understanding that it's just life, because it is, deep down, it's just life. The difference is that you or I will take things differently due to our life experiences, and that's just part of life too.

So the moral of the story is that K-Roll has plenty to learn in life, and as such, it's all of our duty to help him learn by teaching him and leading by example.

He's got plenty of his own baggage, so do I, and I'm sure you have your fair share. The best we can all do is cope.

I'm no mod, nor am I the moral police, it's just very important for us to step back once in a while. A parent might call it "the voice of reason," but since I'm no parent, it's just sharing my experiences. K-Roll has two parents which are more than enough for anyone honestly. He's here because he likes cars, and we're here to encourage that. We don't have to necessarily agree with his buyers remorse, let's be honest, the Focus ST is a really nice car for what it is, and it suits him well. If he wants more, the best we can do is reason the pros and cons.

To err is human.

I'm fine with him having buyers remorse. I just wanted him to appreciate what he has, and not what he doesn't have. He'll be happier in the long run that way.

That's fine, but just be understanding of what his needs are, and how to tell him just that all while doing so in a neutral way.
